Salar Kamangar (born 1977 in Tehran)[2][3] is CEO of YouTube and Senior Vice President of Video at Google.

Salar Kamangar (born in Tehran, Iran) holds a bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences with honors from Stanford University and was the 9th employee to join Google. He joined after graduating from Stanford in 1998.
Salar Kamangar is the former president and current member of Meadowood Social Venture Fund of PARSA Community Foundation,[4] a Persian heritage, entrepreneurship and philanthropic society. In an interview with the Stanford University Persian Student Association, he stated that he is deeply grateful to the organization for the positive impact it has made on his undergraduate years and through PSA-sponsored initiatives he has developed a greater appreciation for his Persian heritage.[5]
On October 29, 2010, it was announced that Salar Kamangar, who was in charge of day-to-day activities, would replace Chad Hurley as CEO of YouTube.[6][7]
Prior to that, Kamangar created the company's first business plan and was responsible for its legal and finance functions. From there, he became a founding member of Google's product team, where he worked on consumer projects including the acquisition of DejaNews and the subsequent launch of Google Groups. Before taking over responsibilities of Head of YouTube, he was Vice President of Google's Web Applications.
